Ang Pei San 洪佩珊 The logographic qualities of the Chinese characters, or Han characters, embossed upon a medium of representation forms the backbone of existentialism in Identity. Chinese seals have earned their place in the annals of history as an imprint ofidentification on official documents. Thumb prints have since become the modern replacement. The infusions of thumbpresent. The endless search for one’s “Identity” in a world caught up in a myriad of lost traditions. Pei San has participated in the Nokia Singapore Art Group Exhibition (1999) and UOB Painting of the Year Exhibitions (2003 and 2005). Her works has won the Highly Commended Award (2003) and Distinction Award (2005) in the UOB Painting of the Year Competitions, Singapore.
