Ophthalmogenesis is a collage and a provocative commentary on the possibility of artificial life regenerated through 'nutrient growth media and differentiation factors'. In Chng Nai Wee's attempt to illustrate the 'production of synthetically-created transplantable eyes' he reveals to us that these eyes are 'technologically-enhanced by micro-electrode computer circuitry'. The use of scientific instruments as syringes, petri-dishes, preserved 'bovine' eyes to assemble this installation further highlights the fascination with the sustenance and creation of life in a clinical environment with the help of technology. Nai Wee's Art is a personal commentary on the advancement of technology , and the ethical and moral issues arising from the practice of Medicine.
