The Istana On-The-Spot Competition

Sunday, 5 August 2001, 8.00 am – 11.00 pm

    Singapore Art Museum (SAM) invites everyone to come down to the Istana for a fun-filled day on Sunday, 5 August 2001. Enjoy the beautiful Istana landscape and have fun with activities for the whole family!

    Get creative within the Istana grounds and take part in an on-the-spot art competition during the Istana National Day Open House on 5th August. Participants may choose from any of these three themes: Istana-Landscape, Istana -Architecture and Singaporeans at the Istana and show their creative interpretation of the Istana and its surroundings. Selected winning entries will go on display. Don't miss the other programmes, including musical performances and art demonstrations. Admission into the Istana is free for On-The-Spot Drawing Competition participants.

    Spearheaded by the Singapore Art Museum, the Istana Art Event is a public outreach initiative to families and schools. The lush Istana grounds provide an idyllic setting for artistic pursuits with musical performance and art demonstrations.

So make time to join us at the Istana this Sunday, 5 August 2001!

8.00am Registration for participants of On-The-Spot Drawing Competition
8.30am On-The-Spot Drawing Competition starts
11.00am Participants to submit drawing entries.
Selected winning entries will be displayed at the Istana.
11.30am Art Demonstrations & Musical Performances
12.30pm Prize Presentation By President S R Nathan

  • Registration for On-The-Spot Drawing Competition is free,
    please call 332 3220.
  • All entries must be on official art block to be issued on the actual day.
  • Participants to bring own colouring materials.
  • Category 1: Ages 4 - 9,
  • Category 2 : Ages 10 - 16,
  • Category 3: Ages 17 and above.
  • Selected winning works will remain property of the Istana, which reserves the right to display the art works within the Istana interior as well as selectively reproduce them for card designs.
